Match Report

Another hard week for the 2nds against top of the table Caradon.  PGs started strongly winning a series of short corners and within 20mins went ahead with a Daniel Vaughan goal.  Charlie Irish and Mike Davison worked hard through the middle of the pitch and Caradon seemed surprised with the resistance PGs were putting up.  However, PGs only had 11 players whilst Caradon had 3 substitutes.  The hard work took a toll on the PGs lads and having survived a couple of short corners eventually succumbed to an excellent drag flick.  A deflated defence then quickly conceded a second goal shortly before the halftime whistle.

Half time Caradon 2 - 1 PGSOB

Caradon were dominant in the second half.  However there was a lot of improvement in the team that lost to Truro the week before.  Archie James worked tirelessly up front with great movement.  Dan Vaughan penetrated the D time after time winning short corners and eventually doubling PGs score and winning Man of the Match.  Jacob Perry who was called up from the 3rd team showed great promise.  Geoff Flowers made some fantastic saves although was desperately unlucky to score an own goal off the back of his head after the ball had had rebounded off 3 pieces of woodwork.  Colin Wood danced into the D and won a short corner that he managed to convert for PGs 3rd goal.  However, Caradon managed to put 5 goals away in the 2nd half.

Full time Caradon 7 - 3 PGSOB

Whilst the scoreline was disappointing PGs knew that they had made major improvements.  A lack of substitutes had played its part in their defeat
