Ashmoor 2XI 6-2 PGSOB 2XI

Geoff Flower's first outing as 2XI skipper was an away trip to Ashmoor.  The 2XI were limited to 11 men on what was a blisteringly hot day in Totnes.  Ashmoor on the other hand had a cast of thousands (maybe 20 in hindsight) including several with National league experience.  PG's youthful team were undaunted and determined to put on a good show.  In an act of mercy it was decided to play four quarters.

As expected Ashmoor started strongly, however they were not as clinical as they could have been.  New signing Charlie Irish worked hard in front of the centre backs providing essential cover in defence and a strong link going forward.  Ashmoor weren't having it all their own way, youngsters Beanie O'Connell and Archie James were causing problems for their defence.  Eventually PGs were rewarded with a Short Corner.  A slow ball out on a sticky surface allowed the defenders to get quickly onto Colin Wood.  He used this to his advantage and rounded the first runner before slotting the ball home.

1st quarter Ashmoor 2XI 0 - 1 PGSOB 2XI

In the second quarter Ashmoor found their killer instinct.  PGs weren't able to cope with the sheer number of players attacking the D.  Ashmoor were able to get on the scoreboard with 4 goals.

2nd quarter Ashmoor 2XI 4 - 1 PGSOB 2XI

PGs came out for the second half far more composed.  Sam O'Connell linked up brilliantly down the right flank with his brother. Joe Coombes showed great distribution with the ball including a number of aerials down the left wing.  The icing on the cake came with a great counter attack by Steve Hill and Snoop, with them juggling the ball between themselves and then into the goal.

3rd quarter Ashmoor 2XI 4 - 2 PGSOB 2XI

As in the first half Ashmoor upped the pace towards the end of the half.  Despite some good defending and goalkeeping, including a quadruple save from Geoff, Ashmoor added 2 more goals to their tally.
